Recipe Help & FAQs
- → What makes these muffins lightened?
Using unsweetened applesauce and low-fat Greek yogurt in place of heavier fats reduces calories while keeping moisture and tenderness.
- → How do I create the cinnamon swirl effect?
Swirl a mixture of brown sugar and ground cinnamon gently into the batter before baking to create a fragrant cinnamon ribbon inside.
- → Can I use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose?
Yes, replacing half the flour with whole wheat adds fiber and a slightly nuttier flavor without compromising texture.
- → What is the purpose of the streusel topping?
The streusel adds a crunchy, buttery layer on top, balancing the soft muffins with texture and sweetness.
- → How do I know when the muffins are done baking?
Insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs when the muffins are fully baked.
- → Can I add extra ingredients to enhance flavor?
Yes, chopped dried cranberries or walnuts can be folded into the batter for additional texture and festivity.
