Garlic Herb Cabbage Potato (Printable Version)

01 - 1 3/4 lbs waxy potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
02 - 1/2 medium green cabbage, cored and thinly sliced

10 - 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

14 - Pinch of ground nutmeg

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 2-quart baking dish with butter.
02 - Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant, approximately 3 minutes.
03 - Add cabbage to the skillet and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring, until softened. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Remove from heat.
04 - Warm heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in thyme, rosemary, and chili flakes if desired. Heat gently without boiling.
05 - Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the baking dish. Top with half of the cabbage and onion mixture, then sprinkle with half of the Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses.
06 - Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, followed by the remaining cabbage-onion mixture, and finish with the remaining cheeses.
07 - Pour the warm, herb-infused cream evenly over the assembled layers, pressing gently to settle the ingredients.
08 - Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
09 - Remove foil and continue baking for 15 to 20 minutes until the top is golden and potatoes are tender when pierced.
10 - Allow gratin to rest for 10 minutes before garnishing with chopped parsley and serving.
