04 - Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
05 - Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
06 - On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to approximately 0.2 inches thickness.
07 - Use heart and star cookie cutters to cut shapes, making a small hole near the top of each for threading ribbons.
08 - Arrange shapes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges turn lightly golden.
09 - Transfer cookies to a wire rack and allow to cool fully.
10 - Mix powdered sugar with lemon juice or water until smooth and spreadable; add food coloring if desired.
