# Directions:

01 - Whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
02 - Beat softened butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
03 - Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until combined.
04 - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until a dough forms.
05 - Divide dough in half, shape each into a disc, wrap with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
06 - Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
07 - Roll chilled dough on floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into heart and star shapes using cookie cutters.
08 - Place cut shapes on prepared baking sheets, spacing them 1 inch apart.
09 - Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden; cool on sheets for 5 minutes then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
10 - Combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and 3 tablespoons warm water in a bowl; beat until smooth and glossy, adding water as needed for piping consistency.
11 - Divide icing into bowls and add gel food coloring as desired.
12 - Fill piping bags with colored icing; outline, flood, and pipe bow designs on cooled cookies, then add sprinkles and edible pearls; allow icing to set fully before serving.
